I know this district well. Been there. Done that. Got the certified letter of termination to prove it. 😂

The state line area can be a tough place in terms of coaching turn over and ecomic issues that the Beloit/ Rockford area face. There is a lot of athletic talent, but academic and socioeconomic factors make it difficult to keep the galant focused and eligible. With these factors in mind it can be very hard to get programs running competitively, especially as they face loaded private schools and suburban districts that have greater resources. Seems like there is a lot of behind the scenes beef between the HC and AD and there seems That both sides have a bit of blame to share. Hopefully it gets sorted out so the kids can continue their success. On a side note I am extremely surprised the mom would move her kid to the new school, seemingly based on football alone, from Rockford Lutheran. It's a good school with a great staff, but parents seemingly will do anything to get "Johnny" D1 bound, even if it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

I don't wanna see a guy get fired if he's a good guy and treats kids the right way, but I was an AD and I had a head coach that tweeted everything the team did at every moment I might ask him to back off a little too. It gets to be a little overkill, I mean come on dude we get it...everybody is working pretty hard out here. #relentless #birdgang #mainthingthemainthing #weworkhard #forrealdudewearegettingafteritoverhere #grateful #football #passingcamp #broccolli #jeremiah3:12 #ball

Nothing fires me up like Sam Jackson reciting Ezekiel 25:17

To play devil's advocate, shouldn't the AD of the school the coach worked for be following and monitoring the message and image? Or another Admin if not the AD (I know in some places AD positions are more paper work and clerical in nature and not particularly management).

It seems that a lot of guys enjoy that kind of thing, no skin off my nose either way. Me not liking coaches trying to display their "brand" on social media is of the many reasons I wouldn't ever be hired as an AD to begin with, I have accepted this reality.

He's trying to brand the program and get people excited about it. I am not sure of the enrollment rules in Rockford in terms of attendance zones etc. Perhaps he's gotta recruit "East kids" to stay at East and play ball instead of going to one of the other RPS schools or the Catholic school power Boylan?

I'm not a social media person at all, but how is using social media with today's kids to "recruit the halls" any different than knocking on doors, pulling Jimmy out of class, going down to the filing station/barber shop/ hardware store on Saturday, speaking at the Rotary Club, or visiting a church to "recruit the halls" back 30-35 years ago?

But hes not harming kids by posting updates to often on social media move on with life. But remember, the article stated he also filmed and posted his opinion of "bad calls" during a basketball game while being responsible for crowd control. That same game the article also started a huge brawl broke out. I mean, if he's responsible for crown control & he's filming the game to out the referees and posting it, it sounds to me like the AD is INSINUATING that he felt the coach had possibly incited some of the behavior that led to the brawl. Don't know if that's true or not, but I feel it's very inappropriate to be in that position & film referees whose calls you don't agree with & post them on twitter. IMO it sends the wrong message to kids about excuse making, inappropriate conduct towards adults, etc. Again, that's what I GATHERED from the article. I may be wrong but that's what I read in between the lines. Regardless, seems like this decision right or wrong shouldn't be made 3 days before the dang season starts. JMO.

I tried to do some research, but couldn't find any indication as to whether DuBose was a teacher or not. In reading his bio he has had seven stops as an assistant coach at local area community colleges and NCAA Division III schools. Articles about the dismissal mentioned that the reason was that DuBose was not following the school procedures. Sounds plausible that some of the obvious friction was caused by him not being a career K-12 school system educator, but rather someone pursuing the career of football coach.
