Did you read the article? Think it was alluded to in there...

I read the article, I guess my question is why would a good coach and seemingly good man be let go regardless of his skin color? There also hasn't been any other grounds for firing that have come to the light as of yet so I suppose I'm a bit baffled.

From the outside looking in, this seems like much ado about nothing. He hasn't actually been fired. Although if he is, I would have to assume (or at least hope) that there's something more to it than race.

Much ado about nothing? Coaches the team to a 16-0 record, wins a state championship and the players support him. But his job is clearly in jeopardy and no serious allegations have been brought against him.?. Huh.

Kahuku High in Hawaii. First year under new HC (2015) state title. Second year state runner up. Community loves the HC. Coach gets canned because he doesn't get along with Principal.

He must have pissed off a couple of the school board members as they vote on to keep him or fire him. They do the same with all administrators and teachers in Texas. Real crappy situation when your superintendent recommends to renew your contract and the school board votes to get rid of you.

Now mind you, the speculation/rumor has caused an uproar, but nothing has happened. As far as skirting the issue, I haven't read anywhere that there is any proof that the board was going to rid him of his coaching job because he's white. As a matter of fact, the brief video shows a group of young black athletes supporting their white coach. Isn't it crazy the way sports doesn't really care about the color of your skin, your last name, or how much money you make?

The school board members are not in favor of him because he is a white head coach at a high school that is 80% black. And the school board also called for "no action" on the decision of the coach, but are going to meet again next week. The only reason he did not get let go was because the Desoto community came out and spoke about how much they love their coach and that there is no reason to get rid of him. Many ex players that are in college and the NFL also spoke out about the issue their.

The important thing to remember, however, is there are seven people on the board that make the call on who coaches the football team. These folks have given NO REASON for not supporting this coach. None. Leaves a LOT of room for speculation.

There's plenty of reasons to get fired, even though he hasn't yet. Surely there's no way a school board would walk into a hornets nest like that.
