Before I left FL, we went 7-4, beat a 2-8 team convincingly with our 2 best players out. 2-8 got in, we went home. Would we have won the round 1 game? No, but we wouldn't have been down 38-0 in the first quarter or whatever it was.

Interesting decision by the HC. And not in a good way. You want to protest the instructions? Then just go win the game. You want to comply with the instructions? Then put your JV team or the back-ups to the back-ups on the field and play the game. He did neither, he sent his starters back out and had them make a mockery of it. Basically the worst of both worlds. He was put in a bad situation, and then he handled it poorly. I am not condoning anything that anyone did in this situation. They all messed up. But I do agree with coachd5085 that I can have sympathy for someone caught in this situation. And it isn't like he had time to think about or sleep on it or get opinions. His boss screwed him up and then instructed him to lose. He still should have handled better, and I am sure that he wished he did. He probably also wishes he had more than a moment while the game was going on to process it all.

From the looks of the video he probably got the message while his team was coming out right after halftime.

Bad situation that wasn't of his making necessarily - would need more info about that eligibility thing, but I believe a lot of us would be...optimistically naive...when being told by a superior that a kid can play, especially (if I read this correctly) our star QB. Absolutely understand we're MMQB-ing this thing, but looking at all of his options, he may have picked about the worst one. Maybe the worst would have been to just pull his team off the field and walk them back to the locker room. I don't know - maybe a coin flip as to which is worse... Although thinking about it, we don't really know what he told his QB. Was his intention to run the play and just have his QB throw a pick? Don't know. Tough situation that sucks all the way around. Talk about a lose-lose scenario...
