In talking about off-season programs I often hear that a lot of teams have sparse turnouts because so many kids play winter and/or spring sports. What percentage of your football players play another sport in the off-season? Also, leave a post telling us wht your school attendance is and how many play three sports.

We have about 1600 students. Very few of our guys play three sports except for indoor/outdoor track. For some reason baseball and soccer (spring sport here) are closed societies.

We have 1900+ kids at the school. A few of our studs play football, basketball, and track. Most of our skill kids run track. We usually have a few wrestle, baseball & lacrosse kids every year.
We are the only sport at our school that encourages kids to play other sports. Every other coach encourages them to STOP playing football.

We have 270 ish in the school.
Every football kid is a 2+ sport athlete.

We have almost 3000, Probably 70% of our players participate in other sports. We encourage all the linemen to wrestle, many of skill players play basketball or run track. Several play baseball. We also have a few that play LAX. Having a period during the day for lifting & film we can still have an off season strength program & have them participate in other sports. Our best WR's the past few years have been basketball guys. We have also had star volleyball players.
We know college coaches want the players to be multiple sport athletes, so we really encourage them. The other thing that helps is our players will recruit players from the other sports.

Our school has about 1200 About 100 Frosh-Senior on the football team each year. We want our guys to play 3 sports, and over half do. A little over 80% play at least 2 sports.
We always tell our guys that if they don't love playing another sport, then they should run track. Most of them do that. Of the 15-20 each year that do not play another sport, only 3-5 of them are actually contributors on the football team.

Of course, how many 2 or three sport players you have is partially dictated by what sports your school offers and when their season is. For us, the boys' sports are:
Fall: Football, cross country, golf, volleyball. Winter: basketball, wrestling, swimming, indoor track Spring: baseball, soccer, tennis, outdoor track.

2000-2500 students in California.
A few of our guys run track and throw but that's about it. Our school, unfortunately, does not have wrestling. The baseball, basketball and soccer teams are all filled with guys who play club or travel and specialize in their sport. I think we had one guy on the basketball team and one guy on the baseball team. That's normal every year. For better or for worse, playing one sport is pretty much the culture at the school.

We're a small school of only about 220 students total. Most of our guys compete in other sports. If they didn't those other sports wouldn't exist at our school. Most compete in two sports (football and something else). We do get a good number of players that do three different sports as well.
Fall Sports: Football, Cross Country, Soccer (combines with a close by school in order to be able to field a team), Volleyball. Winter Sports: Basketball, Wrestling. Spring Sports: Track, Baseball/Softball, Golf.

We're a school of around 1,400, Group 4 (out of 5 Groups), second largest football classification in New Jersey.
I'd say around half of our guys play other sports. In the winter, it's mostly wrestling with a few guys that play basketball. We have more multi-sport athletes in the spring, we have quite a few lacrosse and baseball players, then track and at least one guy who does crew.

D7 Ohio school with bout 200 kids in the high school. 48 on our roster as of now for next season (not all will make it through summer conditioning). Of those kids we have 3 that only play football, about 10 play 3 sports, and the rest are 2 sport athletes.
Couple years ago our athletic department put in a lifting policy that requires athletes to lift 2 days in season, and 3 days out of season. This helped with the number of athletes playing mutiple sports. We also have a couple incentives for kids to play mutiple sports.

2400 kids, almost NONE play all three sports!
75% of my kids do a second sport with track being number one.
We lift in the morning so we have no off-season attendance problems.
