Alright guys I am not a guy that knows nothing but I am deeply humbled by what I see on here as far as X and O's goes. I need to learn but I don't know where to start. I am getting into coaching but I need to know where to begin. I know more coverage stuff then anything else but I don't know a lot of the why behind a lot of things. I know this is. Very broad but when you were a person wanting to learn football how did you start and where did you start? Thanks guys!

I think the best place to learn is on the job. If you have the time go volunteer to be an assistant for a local frosh team; and don't be intimidated by guys who know X & Os and run on about all kinds of terminology- I've met many a guys who knew a ton about Xs and Os and didn't know squat about coaching.
Plays, schemes, and drills, these will come but these are not coaching; coaching is communicating, teaching, and relationships. Success on the field won't come from what a coach knows, it comes from what the players do.

Volunteer as a walk-on. There are high schools who would welcome assistance on their Frosh level. If you're accepted...BE THERE! Never be late and make the time to help out by doing anything you're asked to do.
You can't learn to coach by reading books. You learn it by having a mentor and being on the practice field.
