Heart
Although on a side note, I once asked a highly successful coach what was the one thing that was most important for success and he told me "Talent, it makes everything else easier"

Deception.
Football is the Tao, or Way, of deception. There are only two ways to defeat an opponent: Through overwhelming force, or by manipulating him into reduced effectiveness -- induced misperceptions that cause him to misuse his capabilities.
If you possess overwhelming force, you don't need this forum.
For the rest of us, I suggest that ambiguity and misdirection, the two components of deception, are crucial to what we do.
"Don't attack walled cities." -- Woody Hayes
"Anyone can be an All-American faker. Even dead guys can fake." -- Mark Speckman
"The best approach for inferior talent is the deception which any player can learn but which superior talent neglects." -- Homer Smith

...and to commemorate Steve Calande's [shadow=red,left,300] FIFTH[/shadow] entry into a "one-word" competition: When asked to describe himself in three words or less, Coach Calande replied "Unable to follow instructions." ;D ;D
