Have done this before. Taken our rejected helmets (age), shined them up, added a logo sticker, and had the team sign it. Doesn't cost you anything, and they have a keepsake that they will display.

Helmets and footballs signed by the kids have always been a big hit.

My head coach takes old footballs paint them green (school color) and the art teacher helps out by putting a design and writing whatever he wants on them. They end up looking real good.

We take a team photo, take it to a print/paper shop, and have it blown up with the edges left for players to sign around the picture. Pretty easy and cheap, all you need is the team photo.

Our announcer got a commemorative coin made for him from the school because he has done it for like 15 years or something ... maybe more Chain gang guys usually beg for a shirt and a hat and we give it to them, nice guys The best team mom gifts we have done was to get our team photo printed up on a blanket they loved them

One year I bought ad space in the local paper. It wasn't huge, but big enough to honor a few special people. Anytime you can publicly recognize people, it goes a long way.
