Scumbag move for sure if he did it. Great way to ruin your life, guy is totally radioactive now. Besides career suicide he's managed to completely alienate everybody from the last 25 years of his life. What a clown.

My question is how did the radio guy get the gameplan?

And this is probably why these big schools are so tight lipped on things that we high school guys aren't, all the way down to them getting pissy if we post a good film analysis. People are a holes.

My question is how did the radio guy get the gameplan? Says in the article that he had total access to locker rooms, training facility, meeting rooms, etc, etc.

Is he still working in the NFL?

John Le Carré is hunching over his typewriter as we speak. I wonder how he did it. Burner phones? Dead drops?
I guess this settles the debate about whether having access to an opponents gameplan is of any value?

Question I had was, what about the guys that continued to take the information from this guy? I get at that level, some guys will do anything to win, but how do you guys view the guys receiving the info? I mean, in coaching there are so many friendships between coaches, what if you find out a buddy of yours was receiving this and never said anything. What would you guys do if a buddy that was a coach from somewhere else, was getting info from someone on your staff or behind the scenes guy?

It's a good thought experiment....if somebody offered you the game plan in writing from your biggest rival the week before the game would you take it?....all of you will say definitely no publicly...but my guess is that 70% would use it if you thought you'd get away with it. I don't know what i would do, never been a head coach so I don't pretend to understand the pressures associated with it...might make any good man go to the dark side

Reminds me of a movie: Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: [after discovering Private Pyle's unlocked footlocker] Jesus H Christ. Private Pyle, why is your footlocker unlocked? Private Gomer Pyle: Sir, I don't know, sir. Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Private Pyle, if there is one thing in this world that I hate, it is an unlocked footlocker! You know that don't you? Private Gomer Pyle: Sir, yes, sir. Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: If it wasn't for dickheads like you, there wouldn't be any thievery in this world, would there? Private Gomer Pyle: Sir, no, sir.

I have done play by play for JUCO basketball and high school basketball, baseball, softball ==> this is just nuts! The good broadcasters and analysts take advantage of the insight provided by coaches and their staffs to help bring a game to life (especially where I was.... on the radio). What bothers me is how this may filter down to other programs so broadcasters like me will find ourselves shut out of access and become nothing better than glorified guys in the stands talking. Especially when the broadcaster in question is attached to that University and that university alone!

Still can't get over how/why this guy would do this and how it's going to affect his future. Guy could cheat on his wife, steal from his employer, drive drunk & hit a busload of nuns and most football guys would forgive him. Hosing a team you used to coach and PLAY FOR, that's the unpardonable sin to nearly every football guy I know.

One lesson that we can learn from the Louisville side of it: Don't leave chit behind. Clear any papers out of the press box, office, and bench area, even trash cans when you leave.

Gambling.

Wake forest missed a huge opportunity for some false flag business.

I think one thing that bothers me is that st least two schools received information and two more may have....and no one had the decency to tell the Wake Forest HC he had a mole somewhere in his program.

Wolverine55 hit the nail on the head. I don't have to do one of those "what ifs" with this one. About 10 years ago, a disgruntled coach at another school faxed me their gameplan, etc, for their playoff game with us that week. As soon as I saw what it was, I immediately went to our AD and principal and gave it to them and asked them to inform the other school. The head coach there was not liked by staff that was there before he arrived, and one of them--I'm still not sure who--was stabbing him in the back. No doubt it came from the school--it was from their fax number.
