I don't think that is locker room stuff, that is just acting extremely weird. I have never behaved anywhere near that bad as a player and certainly not as a coach.

It's extremely weird, but this mother is being a total cu*t causing a witch hunt over it. The guy made a dumb choice and he's going to pay for it as his career is likely over.
Mom acting like he was violated is a bit overboard though.

That's insane! I've danced in the locker room with players while music was playing after a big win, but that is totally unprofessional. Who has syrup in the locker room as well? WTH.

I'm just confused by the whole thing... Sounds like a bad combination of Super Troopers and Tosh.O
Littering and.... Littering and.... Littering and....licking the syrup!

Would she have complained if he had used tequila instead?

Would she have complained if he had used tequila instead? Better question is why was it not tequila? We trying to celebrate a win or what!?

Who has syrup in the locker room as well? WTH. So hesitant to even comment in this thread cause that is possibly the wierdest thing I have ever heard of a coach doing. But in regards to why there was syrup in the locker room, it stated in the article that they give a bottle of syrup to the lineman with the most pancake blocks after the game. We have cooked pancakes before and served to lineman on Saturday mornings. So at least the part about giving the guy a bottle of syrup is understandable. Every single thing that happened after that, no comment. None. Zero. Nada.

Of all the phuked up things that I've heard during my long career I can't even think of a close second to this.

I'm embarassed to even type this but at my hs growing up the scrubs created what they called a "Shower Team"
It was 100% all in good fun and the staff never said a word other than "You guys are sick fuks"
Not me personally, but that group. These types of things never cease to amaze me.

no big deal.
Its like when we used to pass hot dogs between each other's buttcheeks after a game.
At what point would anyone think doing body shots off your players would be a way to celebrate?

What's interesting is how many parents are circling around him. Defending him saying that nothing is wrong with what he did.
Wtf is wrong with people.

I miss the days when NOBODY had a camera on their phone.... heck ya man you could lick up all the syrup you wanted and you'd be covered, plausible deniability whole thing boils down to professionalism for me...I hate to sound like an old guy that just complains, i'm not even that old, but I really don't remember seeing that many coaches getting all "lit" in the locker room with the players after a big win when I was playing. I once was coaching a middle school game and lost on the last play. As the clock ticked zero we lined up so shake hands the coach from the other team was in a full blown dog pile with the kids in the middle of the end zone....we just kinda stood around and waited for dude to get done gesticulating....I'm all for passion but dang man....it did lead to one of my favorite post game exchanges once things calmed down dude: "hey bro great game" me: "thanks you too, good luck rest of the way" dude"hey broseph how do we match up to (other good team in the district that we played the week before and they had next week) me: "they are way better than you" dude: ".........."..at any rate...we're supposed to be the grown men in the situation, I think acceptable celebrations include: fist pumps double fist pumps triple claps squat claps walking down the sideline in the bottom of a fist pump bear hug a guy who is a great kid that did something awesome unacceptable: the bottom of a dog pile the jumping hip bump thing (this is becoming more and more common, maybe some of you can pull it off, but most look silly) running back and forth in front of the stands to "pump the crowd" dramatic faint just my list...yours may vary

Just taking ALL the fun out of it aren't we!!! I actually like to sit by myself after a big win.

Wow... Just.. Wow...
This is one of the few times where I am in complete agreement with a coach chastised. This guy needs to be fired and then sent to a therapist. He's going to lucky if he isn't facing some kind of charges over this.

I am trying to make sense of this situation. It is so bizarre...I don't know if the guy just got caught up in the moment and took a failed attempt at humor/celebration or if he has serious issues. Ultimately, when I am assessing a situation, I try to think what if my son was involved. Regardless of whether this was failed humor or something more serious, my kid is not playing for this guy after that incident.
