Going a family vacation to Disney world spring break. Has anybody drove or flown? Pros and cons of each .
Afraid if we drive it's basically a 2-3 day trip so it will take all week. If we fly afraid of the cost, my little one on a flight, and just flying in general. Lol

Lol when anyone talks about the advantage of driving over flying being "cheaper" - they never take into account how much their time is worth. my time is almost always worth more then the plane ticket.

Another thought to consider if you're buying park tickets, they get progressively cheaper on a per day basis the longer you buy them for are you talking 2-3 days each way? or total travel? not sure how big a time block you're working with here, but if you have Saturday, whole next week, then til Sunday (so 9 days total) if you have 2 travel days on each end, that leaves you buy 5 day tickets if you only have 1 travel day on each end, you can buy 7 day tickets you can schedule your air travel such that they don't each up the entire day, you might be able to buy 9 day tickets disneyworld.disney.go.com/tickets/ (be prepared to gag) 5 day ticket is $340, 7 day ticket is $370 (only $30 more than 5 day), 9 day is $390 (only $50 more than 5 day, and $10 a day more than 7 day) you're sort of in the sweet spot of where the economies of scale start to make some sense (I've done that trip more times than I care to admit, no idea what sort of budget you're working with, but the other tip I'd suggest, is to look for condos or houses to rent [depending on how much space you need] off site, we've stayed several times in Windsor Hills, www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals/usa/florida/central-disney-orlando/kissimmee/west/windsor-hills, much more affordable than staying on site, a lot more room than a hotel room, about a 5 minute drive to the parks)

We drove. But it was about 9 hours. We left at midnight and drove through the night. Took the whole family. In laws. Nephews everybody. Stayed in a condo resort that is a part of our timeshare so we didn't stay in the park. We ate every meal at the condo and packed our lunch to take with us. If you are not doing that I would stay in the park and get one of those meal deals. Bc food in the park is expensive. Kids will have the time of their life. Mine did. You will want a vacation when you get back bc the trip wore you out. My wife is a planner. So we had each day planned as to what exactly we were gonna do. What parks. What rides. What fast passes etc. just a lot of food for thought.

We bomb it down 22 hours straight. Get home from school, take a nap, leave about 5:00 at night. Trade driving in the middle of the night for a bit. It's a marathon but not really that bad once you get in the groove. Nice to arrive in late afternoon the next day.

Find affordable hotels that have the amenities, with good restaurants nearby. Kids love staying in hotels (The first thing they'll do is jump on the bed. What do you care? It's not your bed.)

They sure do or like ours climb up in the first chair or couch and start jumping ! Lol I'm just know that our little one can't handle more than 3 hours straight and she then must get out run around and then maybe another 2 and she is done, hangry and cranky and sleepy cranky sets in

We've talked about driving - from Boston it's like a 20 hour drive. That's basically chewing up all if not most of 4 days round trip...no thanks.
If it was more like 10-14 hours I'd consider it - make it two days going down to stop a few places and see some sights. Then crank it all the way home in one day. Leave Saturday, get there Sunday evening, 5 days there, then drive home Saturday to have Sunday to chill. I think I'd consider doing that.
But I just can't see that working with a 20 hour drive. That's just too much driving each day to want to go do some sight-seeing.

Slip a little Benadryl in her sippy cup and get on the plane. I drive a lot cause it's just me and like it, but if time is an issue at all I fly. Would not trade a day at the park for a few dollars and hours in the car.

Fly. So many airlines have cheap fare to Orlando because of Disney. We drove almost 2 hours to an airport to fly on a budget airline and saved a ton of money. Also remember if you are worried about kids on the flight to Orlando, those planes are jammed with families because of Disney. Your kid won't be the only one going nuts that's for sure (having done it 3 times now I can guarantee that)! Plus if you are staying at a Disney hotel there are charter buses to the park from the airports.
My wife knows a Disney planner who does everything for the trip for you for free! If you haven't already planned it hit me up in a pm and I can pass along info.

Definitely vote for fly. I fly with my young children. A few people will give you annoyed looks expecting the worst, but I haven't had it end up a big deal.
Also, if your child uses a car seat at home, take it on the plane and have her use it. The plane seats/belts can make it work. Your kid will feel more comfortable in their "normal" seat and bonus, you have a car seat transported for free if you rent a car (granted you will probably do magic express in this case but still)

Anything less that 8 hours we drive. But I live 1.5 hours from an airport. If I lived closer to airport I would fly everywhere.

I've made the trip from OH to FL many times. Back when I was single (and younger), I would drive it. Now, flying is the only way I get down there (at least once per year). Even with the hassles of commercial air travel, it's still a no brainer - doubly so if you're taking the family.
Places like Orlando are typically pretty cheap to fly into, especially if you can be a little flexible with your dates.

Ok flying Layover in Atlanta , Now does all the airlines let u bring a car seat? I guess that counts as your carry on?
And what do I need to do to set up a "princess" lunch ?

Car seats can usually be checked at the gate. As you head down the gangway they will check it at the bottom and it will be there when you come off the plane. At least that's what I have seen on the recent flights. You can also check them at the check-in counter as baggage.

We started going 8 years ago when my kids were 6 and just turned 3 ... 3 is the absolute youngest I would try and prolly woulda waited a year lol but it was fun. We have now been 5 times. I LOVE IT!!! Im a big kid myself but watching the kids is awesome. We are 12-13 hours away and we have flown all but once. I suggest flying but driving is doable if you do it while little ones are slepping in the back. www.allears.net is the best prep site I have found. It is mostly done by moms who go alot. Tons of tips for everything about the trip. Hope you enjoy as much as I have.

I was taking about actually using the car seat on the plane.
Somebody had mentioned u can strap it in the seat and let your kids ride in it to be more comfortable. And we heard u can bring a stroller has a carry on? True?
