Increased sodium intake generally does the trick unless suffering from a very poor diet

take it for its worth, I read this in Train last year, cashews and tonic water, probably not on game day at least before a game, I was at a game last year in the playoffs and I saw the trainer giving kids packets that they sucked on, so I talked to her when I was on the sideline watching the game, they were using mustard packets, she said the sodium in there helped in keeping kids from cramping, there are those pickle juice shots, a lot of money though, but if you got some who keep cramping it might be something to look at

Why is pediallyte better than powerade? regular powerade and gatorade have way too much sugar in them went to college with a dude who had been a fire fighter at big national parks the dudes who fight forest fires he said that they were instructed to not drink gatorade as is they were told they had to dilute it by adding water to it because the sugar dehydrated them and they had a few guys pass out fighting fires (all that gear on and heat) all the guys who passed out were the ones drinking regular gatorade, not diluting it

yes, I have had trainers tell me it needs to be diluted, sugar can dehydrate and can also make some kids feel sick to their stomach

Pedialyte is so expensive. To give each starter a bottle would be quite costly. Any ideas?

Pedialyte is so expensive. To give each starter a bottle would be quite costly. Any ideas? 1. You don't need a whole bottle, drinking too much will actually give them diarrhea 2. I get it at the dollar store, bottle is a little bit smaller, but it's a dollar! $40 and your whole team can have one to sip throughout the day Don't drink it all at once

Advocare- Hydrate or Rehydrate can't remember what it is called.
We give it to our varsity guys on Thursday night and again on Friday a few hours before the game. This helped us win this past Friday. Other team was cramping like crazy, dropping like flies as it was 92 degrees at kickoff. It was a close game until the 4th quarter. They were cramping and we scored 3 scores to pull away.
Our coach sells the stuff. We just buy it with the booster money through him, as he obviously sells it to the team at his cost in order to save the team money. That's the only reason he started selling it.
We won't be using anything but this in the future.

Our trainer brings mustard packets. Kids will do one before the game and then at halftime. Also, really does immediately help to end the cramping.

Easier and cheaper than pedialyte is to dilute the Powerade. I usually just use half as much as normal.

Id swear by pickle juice. There is a company out of Texas I think that sells a bottled sports drink containing it, but I started buying jars of pickles, and it works same. Have kids chase it with gatorade or whatever for taste. Research it. Some believe its the sodium content, and new studies have shown that it causes neurological reactions in the brain that stop cramps as well.

Mustard? What the.... Types Mustard for Leg Cramps into Google: Cramps are sometimes caused by a deficiency in acetylcholine, the neurotransmitter that stimulates your muscles to work. Mustard has acetic acid, which helps the body make more acetylcholine. I learned something today.

Tell your kids to stay away from energy drinks. They really screw with your electrolytes and make cramping way more likely to happen.
