See if anyone can top this first week of camp, we had our first scrimmage today, which was good. Before camp started senior MLB step wrong during pass scrimmage, and had to about 4 cm piece of cartlidge removed from his knee, can't even walk on it until september. Then camp comes around, our 4th CB rolls ankle by stepping in a rut on our practice field, our starting DE/RT gets rolled up on and missed almost all of camp with a contusion, my jv center broke his leg, at our scrimmage today our starting RB/SS went with at minimum an AC joint sprain, so the back up who went in for him broke his collar bone on the last play of the scrimmage, and our other starting SS has been out since Wednesday with some type of shoulder injury, by the way we started the season with 37 players Sounds very very familiar....Only ours aren't necessarily due to injuries as they are the kids complete lack of desire to be apart of a football team. Started the season with 53 kids, as of last Friday prior to our scrimmage we were down to 43 and our largest attended practice was 39 kids. The first two weeks of camp consisted of 35 missed practices combined and 27 missed practices combined. Very frustrating as a coach. The best part is, they all show up for the scrimmage last Friday. Just as myself and a few of the other coaches expected they would.

Due to being in different classifications this year we played our cross town rivals of 50 years for the opening week. They have the series lead on us by about 15 games but we have won something like 13 out of the last 16 meetings. Last year the stars aligned for us and we actually set a scoring record and tied a point differential record beating them 48-14. We did not have any visions of grandeur about replicating that performance this year and we preached to our kids that last year's game didn't matter at all anymore. Well our coaching staff put together a great gameplan and our kids executed well enough for us to actually break the scoring and point differential records we set last year as we beat their eyes out 55-3. They are not very good though obviously and we still have several little things to clean up at every position. Liking our chances this week too.

You must be in Pennsylvania, I hate this week. It is as important as camp. Thought you could still do 2 weeks of camp but in my school's case we start in service earlier this year so we can only really have a 4 day camp You have the choice of 9 games and two scrimmages or 10 games and one scrimmage. Our district went with 10 and 1. PIAA sucks. This re-alignment is worse than before. Pennsylvania here too. The one scrimmage really is a game changer. Heat Acc was absolutely horrible. Don't remember it ever being that hot. Scrimmage in and now grinding for week 1 opponent. Feel like we need another scrimmage but oh well. After all the work we put in the last couple of months wish we were further along than we showed in scrimmage.
