Anyone recommend a good lightweight brand that protects you from the sun in hot weather?

I have one light gray UA shirt and one white C9 long sleeve from Target. Both are dri-fit material. I am also a coach who wears long sleeves during fall camp.......along with my wide brimmed floppy hat.

History of skin cancer in my family and the kids don't complain about the heat when I'm around. 😜

Russell makes some really light weight long sleeve shirts, and they're super comfortable. They're some of my favorite shirts.

the nike stuff I have isn't bad. Bought a cheap brand this year see how it does. But I hate dealing with sunscreen so it's long sleeves as much as possible.
Looks like I'll try these hanes one next. That's a fine price.

The Hanes shirts are available thru Walmart.com for $8.00 each. Can't beat that!

Be VERY careful about the dry fit shirts, especially the cheap ones. The effective SPF of those can be very low. The first year we got to this place, we decide our motto/slogan was going to be FINISH. We had some cheap blue/white shirts printed up with FINISH across the chest to use during class and for 7-7 practice and they have held up real well. By the time we get to July all the kids have a nice upper body tan and the word FINISH on their chest.
I always spray on some 50+ before I put on mine. The Columbia is pricey, but there is a reason for that other than the logo.

Comfort wise I like the Nike much better than badger. The badger ones don't breath as well. However the Nike ones though comfortable and cool are also pricey.

I like A4 but couldn't find the colors I needed this year, so I am trying Sport Tek. Has anybody used them? I had a school give teachers their polos a few years ago and it was ok. Not sure about the long sleeve tees yet though.

I could only fine Hanes X-Temp on-line for $8.99, plus shipping. No local stores carry them.

Is it just me, or do the "dri-fit" fabrics feel like you're wearing a garbage bag? I'd rather have 100% cotton or a cotton/poly blend.

Magellan has some good stuff. It's basically the cheaper (price wise) version of Columbia.

So one of our assistant coaches has started wearing long sleeves to practice claiming that keeping the sun off his skin keeps him cooler. I'm calling bull. Do long sleeves really keep you cooler?

Do long sleeves really keep you cooler? the dry fit type shirt will allow the sweat to evaporate quickly much like the material in swimming trunks.

IDK, hot is hot. However, I feel like it's being in the shade. It's still hot, but the sun isn't beating directly on the covered skin.

I ordered a couple of Sport Tek shirts. They're great. Didn't run small on me and they're light and comfortable. Wore them at our youth camp this week and it was in the 90s and humid. They worked great.

No clue, but sweating > skin cancer. bingo it has been beaten in my head to protect myself and even then i worry about how well i am doing at it in college one of our teachers (30+ years as a HS pe teacher and most of it also as a coach and/or AD) she had NUMEROUS spots on her skin, especially face, that had to be removed she was always preaching to us to cover up, wear a hat, use sunscreen, etc. also 2 other teachers have had to hang up the whistle in my time here because of skin cancer issues i almost always have a large bucket hat on when I am outside and i stay stocked up on sunscreen re-applying suncreen every single hour sucks and makes you feel all oily so i will often just wear a long sleeve all day ... i do not feel i sweat any more or any less in long sleeves vs short sleeves... if i am awake, i am a little sweaty, i run pretty hot in terms of body temperature and i am extremely active i will however not need to be applying every single hour any more, i found out 2 days ago i am teaching all health this year, FML i have to be in the classroom I am going to wear the carpet out pacing back and forth 6 hours a day in my room but i am looking forward to the extra hudl time while the kids work
