Over the summer, I coached the flag league that we run before Tackle starts. This is going to be the first time I've head coached a youth team. For kids that young, what do you guys recommend for calling plays? I feel like 3 is the maximum amount I can expect them to remember and recall by word association.
In flag it was simple colors for my offense. Red was right, blue was left. Spiderman was a called pass play, and we would play action out of the runs (my QB had a surprising arm for a 5yr old). We had a misdirection run play as well. But it was almost always line them up and call the play, then answer a Q from the backs, while they loudly ask, "does that mean I run right?!?" Lol.
Just wondering how you guys have handled play calling/ naming of plays?
