I once coached a frosh/soph team with a terrible staff. The RB coach was a locally known homeless guy. I didn't know he was homeless for sure until I offered him a ride since it was raining. We got to the train tracks and he said, "Right here is good." He got out and went to his encampment under an overpass. It was an interesting season. We had three offensive plays: jelly (IZ), peanut butter (pass block and the HC would make up a pass concept), peanut butter and jelly (PA all verts). WTF. Is it weird that I laughed at this for 5 min.? More than okay, coach. I laughed at it for 10 weeks lol. I actually do value those early seasons. They've taught me so much about why you don't undercut the way you should do things. I appreciate every situation I'm in more now because of years like that. As bad as any season ever gets, at least I'm not thinking about my running back coach sleeping outside every time it rains Lmao.
