I just got a ding reminder on my phone that today, the 12th, is the state title game. We didn't get it done in the semis, so I'll be sitting on the couch pouting.
Any hoo, the title should have been played last weekend on the 5th, but the huge flood back in October caused the playoffs to be started a week later than usual so some teams could make up games that had to be postponed.
If we had made it, our time slot would have been a 6 pm kickoff in Columbia. Great time slot, the finale of the day. There would have been only one problem: our HC's son will be getting married today at 5:30.
Could have been an interesting week/day to say the least.
Couple of years ago we had a game scheduled for the Saturday that my son was going to get married. I would have missed the game. It was moved to Friday so I didn't have to miss it which is too bad because we got our buttocks kicked.
I've never missed a game, a streak that was only sustained by a fluke. This year I had to take an ambulance ride to the hospital. Blood clots in the lungs. I'm fine but I would have missed that game BUT we got the same rain that you got and the game was postponed.
That's a long way of saying that I'd miss the game.
A former Steeler, asked what Chuck Noll would think of the hours put in by modern coaches said, "He'd be amazed that there were people so inefficient that they couldn't get everything done in a working day".
