I just got about 10 emails telling me how much I suck. I guess its good the fan base is engaged. how do you handle it.
this is my favorite
You are an embarrassment mostly because you are a stupid idiot. The only thing I look forward to in this season is you getting fired. You have taken a team that has so much talent and reduced it to nothing. Honestly, Football for dummies was written for you. You are a {censored} idiot quit coaching and take up something like checkers where you can only hurt yourself. When you get fired, Mc donalds won't hire you because you will be to stupid to do that. Maybe you can explain why your so stupid to a rock.
P.S. you are ******** bitch

You can write Dick if you capitalize it! dick
OK, good old days story!
I knew a guy that coached in a town with a big paper mill. After a group of paper makers, all tanked up, stood and yelled obscenities at said coach all night on Friday night he decided to do something. Monday he went to the plant at shift change and spotted the jerks. He started cussing them and saying they were the worst paper makers in the country and he wouldn't buy Mead Paper for his dog to piss on!!! He went on and on and finally a manager with a security guard comes up and says, "hey an what are you doing?" Coach said, those fockers come to my job and disrespect me and I will be here every day doing the same the if it ever happens again. He didn't have to go back!

Depends on multiple things imo. How long have you been at this school? If this is your first year there, they are usually good, and now they're not.....well I couldn't blame a fan.
Fan is short for fanatic, and at least you have a fan base that cares. I'm sure if you started winning they would support you.
I would never say those things, because as a coach I know how much time and effort goes into it. No one wants to win more than you do, but that doesn't mean you are the man for the job just because you want to be good at it. Fan are ruthless, and tell you what they think at that time.

I don't email parents how bad of a job they're doing parenting. I'm the dean and the coach. I easily could. People need to stop being computer tough guys and start being real life mediocre humans. I don't fault someone for expressing concern/contempt but to load it with profanity and bad grammar just ruined any chance at you actually taking their feedback seriously or to heart. I would 'let me google that for you' grammar for dummies and send that link to them.

that is terrible
never gotten it in email form, but i have heard my fair share of A holes in the stands
they do not see the things i do for the kids off the field am i the best playcaller in the world? of course not but calling plays is the easiest thing i do
keeping kids on track to graduate, providing food for them, being a positive influence on their life is a lot more important than what i call on 3rd and 5

My first year as a HC I had a TE who broke our single season receiving record. He did not play much as a Junior and going into his Senior year he was starting as an OLB and rotating at TE as we determined if he or another young man would be our starter... At this time I had just gotten my first school email address but I did not have a computer in my PE office yet. By the end of the season I had a brand new computer in my PE office and our tech director set up a link to check my email on there. I opened it and had three emails, two of which were from this young mans dad ripping me up and down about how his son did not get enough touches. I couldn't figure it out as he just set our school record and he got all kinds of local press for this record, I looked at the date and it was from the night of our first game... So I responded, "Thank you so much for your interest in Addison Football and supporting your son so passionately! I'm sure your support and passion helped your son set records for receptions and and yardage this year. As his head coach it was a pleasure to see the passion you have for Addison Football as I opened my first email in my new email account today!" he never responded but boy was he friendly around town, and it is a good story that I made sure to share as often as I could.

This is an instance of not having a school email being a great thing. Though calling games I hear things on occasion. I had a grandma calling me stupid not long ago for calling the same play over and over again. My gut reaction was to say, "look if we can't block long enough to throw a 5 yard hitch, it doesn't matter what I call. It's not going to work" I'm lucky with the JV line has enough kids with the correct numbers and go in the correct direction.
Instead I chuckled, said something to another coach, and continued taking our beatdown. Her daughter in law apologized for her later, which was nice I guess. Didn't hear much from her the next few weeks when we've won 2 of 3.

When I first started coaching I coached for a team that ran the wishbone. We were playing Youngstown and they were up by 40+..We were just trying to get out alive. The crowd was chanting throw the ball, throw the ball...leading the charge was my girlfriend (now wifey) when asked why she was yelling that she replied..well I wanted you to throw the ball..she and her friend went out..I went home

I had a parent yell from the stands at a game that I was an idiot for running the ball on 3rd and 12 late in a ball game we were up 50-0 in. He yelled that he was going to call the AD because I shouldn't be calling plays. After we shook hands, the other teams fans yelled at me for running up the score. I couldn't win that night.

I'm HC and AD. The parents don't email me very often any longer because I've been told I don't listen anyway.
I had a Mom email me about two years ago a rant that was seriously about 4 pages long. At the end it had the tag - sent from iPhone. My only thought was wow, her thumbs must really hurt.

I'm lucky to where I'm never in a position to get hate mail because I'm an assistant but I've had a couple parents complain about some in game stuff. I just say, "thanks for the support" and walk away.

They suddenly love that I keep calling a play if is working.

I don't think this is because he can't handle the yelling but so the kids don't hear "bah gawd why you runnin the same play coach! It ain't working bag gawd!"

I'm probably not the guy to ask that question, because I confront people on that stuff. I think that's part of the reason no one really questions me to my face or in tough guy email form. Really, anytime I hear a fan say something stupid or attack me, I always invite them to apply for my job or feel free to step across the fence and call a play. In this email's instance I'd invite the guy down to the school or practice and feel free to instruct me as to what techniques or systems I should be running. Usually most people realize they don't know their buttholes from a hole in the ground and sheepishly sink away. Couple years ago I had our PA guy announce before a game that applications to be an assistant coach would be available upon request to all those interested in coaching. No one inquired.
Couple years ago we're in the quarterfinals and in a tight game. We were an I team with a TB who ran for 2500yds and FB who went for 1500 that year. So, we're going to run the ball. Especially in a 40 mph wind. The team we were playing did a great job taking our bread and butter away inside so we were frustrated. Call a power, it gets stuffed and a fan screams "Great call! Run it up the middle again Larrymoe!" I turned around and yelled, "Feel free to come out here and call a play you loudmouth". It was pretty quiet the rest of the game.
It helps that I'm a pretty big muscular guy who apparently looks about half a second from hulking out on the world too.

This is brilliant for a lot of reasons.
