We stretch by position group. Each group has a 10 min stretch period. Its all dynamic, and our coaches work to move all muscles and loosen up but it is in a position specific fashion. So with my running backs they do everything while carrying a football. Receivers catch a ball at the end of their stretch, etc. Allows us to get some fundamentals time while stretching.
Then for offense before individual we do fundamentals. Qbs and Rbs will do our mesh drill and WRs will run pat&go. Then we'll get together for routes on air. All qbs throwing, 4 routes across the field.
We'll do the same thing pregame and then run through some plays for about 5 mins. Thats our O time.

what are thoughts on OL warm ups.
I know from my experience that i was often extremely worn out after a long warm up.
Does it hurt the big guys to cut down on warm ups?
It never hurts skinny guys to run 20 or so 10 yard sprints but i feel the OL can get a little winded.

I've posted this before but we do no warm-ups. We go right into a team drill or go right to the first segment of O or D. Before games we do a 2 minute warm-up that is really a way to start yelling a little to get pumped. We go out for our games 20 minutes before kick-off for the first time and run a few plays vs. a scout D. Not having a practice warm-up has saved a little time and actually allowed us to end practice earlier. Our practices are brutal at times but we never have many injuries more than bumps and bruises. Everyone does occasionally. Just our way. I'm a contrarian, though. I find warm-ups unnecessary.

In college my position coach believed in a long ball-busting warmup and I thought that it was counterproductive. With our OL we go really easy. After our team dynamic warmup the OL does: Three lead steps with each foot, a ten yard takeoff with each foot, and aa slide punch drill left then right. Then they get together with the assistant who likes motivational speeches, which usually run so long that the HC has to break them up to run plays as a team. Never saw any sense making big guys tired before we even play so we don't.

We do a 3 man double team drill for our IZ where we want 3 reps at full speed. We feel this gets us use to game speed movements.

OL: stay in the locker room until about 25 minutes before the game. Stretch for 7. A few blocks for 8. Run plays on air with the offense for 10. Sideline for the anthem.

Practice
3-5 min jog. Dynamics
Pregame Half field jog J Jacks Dynamics
I firmly DO NOT believe in static stretches until AFTER an activity. Static stretching weakens joints temporarily.

We do all dynamic stretches by position (7 min O positions/ 7 min D positions). I can't speak for the other positions, but I will give you what we do in the secondary. . . . I use this as a combination stretch/ indy fundamental time.
(1) Shuffles & react run/ pass (1.5 min) (2) Backpedal & react run/ pass (1.5 min) (3) Mini-stations (4 min --> players rotate between stations) (a) "M drill ==> shuffles/ make INT/ form tackle (b) "Box" drill ==> press man drill
The other positions do similar work. I like this because now my indy time in practice I can use more for scheme and position specific stuff without sacrificing fundamentals.
