Good Morning,
I have some friends in other programs who have done this before I am getting some ideas down to have this as a fundraiser for my program. I wondered if any of you have done this before and the logistics you have created for the game such as rules, fees, sponsorships and anything else you would be willing to share! I would really appreciate any help!
Have a great day!

There have been a couple of these type games done around here, but I don't think anyone did them as a fund raiser. I could be wrong, but it was a fund raiser, then most of the money went to the organizer.
Most of the hype around the game was about old men trying to relive their glory years. Seems to me that cost was mostly about paying for insurance and the guy promoting the event. I guess you could make some dough off of it if you get enough fans to turn out.
Again though I could be wrong.
It might be easier to bring back the alumni and have a flag football tourney

To me, do a flag game, but incorporate it with something else. So, if you are having a field day for homecoming week, maybe it could be paired with the event and done the same day. That way, you will already have a big turnout (hopefully) for your event. Could maybe charge a couple extra bucks for the day's game.

I actually started and ran one of these last year as a fundraiser. I made for the program about $8000. I got some alumni to recruit for the game and we set up a meeting. At the meeting we got all the contact info and made sure everyone was on the same page. Then we organized practices and everything for about 3 weeks before the game. Most of the players had their own shoulder pads and helmets because they play semi-pro the ones that didn't I had extra equipment that I fitted them with. I had each player pay a fee of $75 which bought them a jersey that they kept and basically accounted for the insurance needed to have the even. Also it paid for off duty police officers required by the county. Everyone had a great time and I am no longer at the school but I believe they will continue with it this year.
Another idea that is easier to do and maybe a better option for you is to have a flag football game during your camp between your current team and alumni. I think this could be a big money maker as well.

You won't have to worry too much about injuries and also can get multiple games going on at once. It's easy to get cones, footballs, and flags from the local PE department. It's a bit hard imo to get pads, helmets, waivers, etc for everyone. Also, the cost of a flag ref would be a lot easier than actually hiring a zebra...excuse my french.
