I am glad to have found this message board. Just a little bit of info on me, I am a 26 year old head coach in the state of KY at a 1A school. I am starting my 2nd season after a 1-10 start. I am always looking to meet people, swap ideas, and learn as much as possible so that I can become the best head coach as possible, my players deserve that.
Feel free to message or email me any time.
thanks Brit

what are your plans to turn it around there? what kinds of things are you working on 1. x and o wise? 2. player development wise? 3. character/team building?
what is the nature of the support within the community?

The program was in bad shape when I started. I was the third head coach in 3 years. My first and foremost goal has been to bring stability to the program and sell the fact I am not a 2 or 3 year and out kind of guy. I did what I could to make a commitment to the community.
I have implemented and extensive off season and summer program. (which has been difficult since I am currently seeking to hire 2 coaches)
The biggest challenge has been trying to sell the kids on the idea that they can win!!! It has been difficult especially after a 1-10 first year. Our athletes are developing and things are looking up, but we have a long way to go to get this ship righted.
X & O wise, being such a young coach, I made some mistakes last season by not getting good at what we were doing before adding more crap to the mix. This year I am going base our attach from a spread formation and work the old buck dive, sweep, keep and pass from the spread with the pass and a few counters to keep people off set.
Come heck or high water, we are going to be able to run our 10 plays very very well before we being adding to the mix.

I am a first year coach, I am at a Texas 2A school, coaching WR/DB. I have wanted to coach since middle school, and am ready to get started.
I will mostly be here to read and ask questions, I know I have a lot to learn.
Back in high school we ran the spread where I started at SE, and a 4-4 where I was a CB/WOLB reserve.

what's up fellas, i'm a soon to be sophomore at blinn college in brenham not playing football, but love the game and hopefully coach one day, went to dubc high school played the o-line C, G, T, TE and DE. we ran an I and One Back Sets with some spread depending on our players, ran 4-4 defense in my opinion but i guess its a spilt. I really consider myself a student of the game really want to coach one day here in Texas. I really like the Spread I Formation on O, with 3 WR and sometimes putting the TE in the flex using him like Frank Wychek was used at Tennessee motion, blocking and goaline, and the option is what i would like to run, big on ISO and Trap plays also Power, and quick pitches but adjust my offense to players i have, 2 backs is the key to misdirection in my opinion kinda like Tom Osborne at Nebraska is what i want to run. On D, i really like the 4-3 even though we didnt run it HS, kinda like a carl torbush mano y mano, or playing 2 deep and man everywhere else blitzing and stunting up front keeping offense guessing and adjust according to offense playing that week, esp spread but im not scared to stay in 7 man front with athletes placed accordingly on the field. any info on these types of D or O greatly appreciated. i want to win and win big when i get there. again any input greatly appreciated if anything personal you can e-mail c_harang04@hotmail.com

Bandito
I coach at a 5A high school in the Greater Houston Area (OLB/SS hybrid).
We employ a split defense (4-2-5).
Offensively we are an I-Formation team (multiple).
I am a young coach who still has quite a bit to learn. I am interested to use this site as a reference to find new ideas and experience different viewpoints.

Hogcoach52
Offensive Line coach in the Los Angeles area.
We have been a spread team the last 6 years, been blessed with really good QB's. Were going to run a two back shotgun offense this year. Our QB is a great athlete so were going to run Some triple option stuff similiar to what Urban Meyer did at Utah.

Tog - sorry"intimidating" was a poor word choice on my part- I meant it more as "Wow - I can't wait to learn from all these excellent coaches." I meet Brian Billick at a clinic once and just said to myslef - "Just don't look like an idiot!" Of course, he was a generous, humorous guy who spoke to all the coaches as if they were his own. It's the brotherhood of coaches. That's the kind of "intimidation" I met - it's a good thing! Great site - it's awesome to draw together coaches from all over the country.

cool max,
and we all look like idiots at time
I slipped down a small hill on my ass this last season and got mud all over my butt. Apparently the kids and the other coaches thought that was funny.

OC at a newly re-aligned 3A school in Arizona. It's my Alma Matter, played 1 year of college football at Whittier College in Cali. This is my 4th year at my school and first as OC. We are going to be a multiple offense that will try and be flexible week to week according to our opponents strngths and weaknesses. We have a very young team that will start mostly soph's. On D we will be a base 5-3, with the hopes of being multiple also. Love the website already.

I am not coaching yet, still working on the degree. I did get to help a small private school during the spring where a buddy of mine coaches because he was short handed on coaches. I love the thought of breaking a teams will by smashing it down their throats for 48 minutes but after seeing them boys in SLC throw it all over the place I think I may want to be a little more diverse on O. I really like what Coach Outlaw runs in Lufkin on D, they will flat get after you. Ultimately I think you have to adapt to you kids strengths. My philosophy I think will be simple: work harder than the next guy, coach 'em up, love 'em like my own and give you guys 48 minutes of hell on Friday night. I can't for that first Friday night national anthem, then the coin toss ..... man I got chills thinking about it.
