New coach here,
I wanted to say that this is such a great site. Right now i'm coaching youth 8-9 & 10 year old, i'm the OC for the team. We don't run anything fancy, some I and Split back with a wing, wishbone and double wing.
In HS i played WR in an I offense and a little CB on D
Glad I found this site and I looking forward to learning a lot from all of you guys.

Well, I am a young gun I suppose only 20, and I am looking forward to becoming a coach one day. I love football and I just love the thinking part of the game. I loved watching film in HS. I played HS ball in Seattle Washington. I was wondering how you guys get to watch film of pro teams and all that? Where do you get this kind of film so you can watch it. I consider myself a student of the game and I love all types of offenses. I have seen your guy's site for only two days now but I think I have read every single post and it is awesome!
So if anyone knows how to get film so I can watch it that would be great!

The easiest way to get film from people would be to call them up. Or have someone with some stroke call them up. College film will be what you really want to see. Pro stuff has a way of not applying at times, especially techniquewise. Also, the pros have so many little wrinkles and special situation plays/personnell issues that lower levels just do not have.

welcome aboard, prospect. the "thinking" part of the game is (imo) the greatest part of this game. i feel that is what really sets football apart from some other sports (not knocking 'em, i love other sports as well....but each for different reasons). the mental approach is what led me to start this board. please add all that you can.

Been out of coaching for a few years - sacrifice made for my wife who is a head VB coach and our 3 kids - DYING to get back into it. Coached in Houston area for 7 years, assistant varisty coach, OL & DT.
HS - splitback veer & 4-4 D coached - wing-t & 29 D
I am definitely a wing-t guy through and through, but can learn a ton from the other systems that can be used in the wing-t. Came over here for real FB talk, but use the other board for fun. You know, sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't.

20 years old. Head JV coach at Eielson Air Force Base Alaska. 2nd year coaching. My philosphy this year has been to formation the other team to death. I love to overload and use the other teams lack of coaching and preperation to get my guys into positions to make the plays. I like to overload because most JV teams don't adjust to it, leaving you huge holes, and to spread the field and run the ball with fly sweeps. Also the trick plays are always money plays at the JV level.

I've checked out this web sight for the past few days and I am really impressed. I've been in dire need to talk football and I haven't had much of an opportunity where I am at. This web sight is filling that void...Thanks. I'm an OC at a 5A program in Texas. We base out of the bone but would consider us a multiple offense. we run basic plays but use many different sets.

Grew up and played high school and college ball in North Dakota. In high school I played OL and DL at the class A level, which is now the 3A level or the highest classification in ND.
I currently coach at a middle school in TX, and have been considering moving to high school, but I want to be careful where I look to move up.
HS Offense - I formation base, some spread Defense - 4-3, 5-2
College Offense - multiple formation pro I Defense - 3-4
Coached HS (2 years is ND) Offense - multiple formation pro I Defense - 4-3
Middle School Offense - Wing T, Multi I (wing T based) Defense - Split, 4-3
I am an offense guy first (at least in my own mind). I love the O line, and that would be my first choice to coach over any other position. I have coached almost all positions at some point, but really have a lot to learn. I will likely do a lot more reading, and less writing but am looking forward to learning and trying to applying what I learn. This is a great board, and I hope it doesn't change into what many of the message boards tend to become. As far as football is concerned the information and help here seems to be better then any other place on the internet. Thanks Huey, and of course Tog who appears to be the coachhuey greeter.

4 years of HC'ing in Northern Idaho and eastern Washington state. We run a spread/1 back offense. Big on screens, trick plays and perimeter run.
Defensively we try and mimick Washington State's aggressive zone blitz package, and focus on putting speed at our perimeter spots.
