Hello all.
I've been around football in some capacity for over 30 years. Started coaching youth football in 2010 and have coached all age groups on a small island setting. Was recently approached to head a 1st year high school program, but didn't feel I was prepared to handle that. So I'm hear to increase my knowledge and hopefully prepare myself to move to the high school level. As a youth coach, have really focused on fundamentals more than schemes so I'm here to learn more about different offensive schemes and the theories behind them.
Offense: Pro, Power I, Pistol Defense: 4-3 Cover 2, 5-3 Cover 3 (for younger kids)

Hello,
I'm new here. I coach 7th and 8th grade football in Washington State. I have only been coaching football for 4 years. I didn't really even play much football (2 years). I was a basketball player in HS and had a short college career. I have been coaching AAU basketball off and on for 20 years. I came by coaching football quite accidentally after my 2 knuckle-head boys started playing. There are obviously a ton of terrible youth coaches out there...in every sport.....that's how I came to coach football. I say that as a joke but its not that funny. I'm desperately trying not to be one of those guys.
It took me about 5 minutes of coaching football to become a full blown junky. I am currently a HC and spend most of my time coaching O-line. I am still learning how to coach those guys. I never played the position so I have 0 experience to fall back on. I chose to coach O-line because as the HC I'm ultimately responsible for our teams success and I believe that success or failure is largely dependent on good line play. I probably won't have much to contribute as I have very little experience but I'm hoping to learn as much as I can. My boys are almost done playing youth ball and I have no intentions of hanging it up when they move on to HS. I have no idea where or what I will coach only that I will be coaching somewhere.

I am a Head Coach on the high school level. I have been involved in football one way or another for most of my life. I played football for 19 years (youth / middle / high school / Div 1 college / Semi Pro & Arena). Just this past summer at age 45, I played in an alumni game (Paid for it for a week but well worth every bit of suffering lol). I continue to TRAIN and do as much jujitsu and kick boxing as my body will allow lol.....I also wrestled in college for 2 years until I gave it up to focus on football. I have coached on the collegiate and high school levels. This upcoming season will be my 17th as a head coach. Our program has a strong tradition of success and we have been playing football for over 100 years at my current school (which I am an alumni of). Our program runs the Wing-T (Traditional & Hybrid) and a Multiple 4-4 (4-2-5 / 3-4 ).

I'm an assistant coach at a AAAAA high school in Minnesota, which is the second highest class. I started coaching my junior year in college after a short attempt at college football career. This past season was my sixth year coaching. Currently I am the varsity offensive line coach and handle all of the technology in the football program. Teach special education, specifically math, and have also coached baseball for a couple of seasons. Offensively, we are a spread no huddle, but haven't used different tempos very much. Defensively, we are generally a 3-4 team, but may be converting to an even front this year in the form of a 4-3 or 4-2-5. I've been a frequent lurker on the site and have found many great ideas in the process.

Im an OC at a 5A school in Louisiana. Former WR at the High School, College, and Professional levels. We are a no huddle spread team offensively and a 3-4 team defensively. Thoroughly enjoy the site and have already gotten a few great ideas from it. Look forward to hopefully being able to contribute some myself.

Hi all!
I'm James, and I don't really have any significant football experience to my name. I never played competitively growing up (due to eyesight issues mainly), but I've played extensively in intramural and social sports leagues. I have, however, been a student of the game for as long as I can remember and am aiming toward coaching and teaching soon. (Preference: high school math. I was a physics student in university but math was always my best subject.) I still remember drawing up a huge notebook of plays when I was around 8-9 years old and wanting my parents to send them to the high school football staff. I don't know if they've kept it, though.
Not having played a particular system growing up, I've explored quite a few different philosophies, mostly the offensive side of the ball: my high school team ran a lot of wing-T, but had some spread elements my junior/senior year due to a talented QB; I've pored over West Coast, Air Raid, even the old veer. I captain my social sports leagues team, which are passer-friendly, so I've had a lot of time to study passing games and defensive passing coverages and how to attack/ID the latter.
I'm in the northern Virginia / DC area at the moment, working in a completely different industry that I'm learning I can't stand. Need/Want to get into the classroom bad.

I'm a 2nd year varsity asst. coach (23 yrs old) at my old high school in Connecticut. Played in HS, was an equipment manager @ UConn during the Pasqualoni/Diaco Years. Really fortunate to have developed a great relationship with Diaco and his coaching staff, hoping to use those relationships to get a job up there soon. I coach WR's, QB's during pre-practice, help w/ the DE's and run the D scout team and I was the QB for the O scout team, since we didn't have any QB's. We're a triple option team, always have been, and run a 3-4 on D w/ a lot of stunts. Definitely need to up my Defensive knowledge this year.

Hello all! A little about me, I played LB/Rover/DE during my 4 years of college football at the FCS level. Went to my old high school for a workout and the D-Coordinator asked me for some defensive advice and how to simplify it for kids to understand. 20 minutes later I was asked to help out in the 2014 season and I've been in love with coaching ever since! I Coached D-Line & Special Teams my first year and then Linebackers & Sp.Teams the next year(2015). I helped Coached a defense that pitched 5 shutouts in the 2015 season. We are a 4-3 team but I am always looking to learn new defenses and how others use them! I am also looking to "branch off" and get in a more "uncomfortable" situation and master other defenses. I've played/coached in pretty much every Defense(4-3/4-2-5/3-3/3-4) except the 46(ran variation of it). I am a TRUE student to the game and I am very excited about new things I can learn from great coaches!

Hey coaches,
I have been coaching high school football in Illinois for the last 11 years. I have run all types of offenses including Pro I Power game, Double Tight Double Wing, and Spread Option. I have been coaching the spread for the last five years and it is the offense that I prefer to run. Defensively i have coached a 4-man front my whole life but I am very intrigued by the 3-4 for high school ball but have never worked with a DC that wanted to run it. I am looking forward to talking with some fellow coaches on here and increasing my knowledge of the game. Heck who knows maybe I will be able to help someone enhance their game. I have been an assistant coach my entire career and am currently applying for Head Coach jobs so any advice on how to get that first head position would be appreciated.

Gentleman,
I am an Positional Assistant (former OC) at KIPP NYC College Prep in NYC. I have experience at coaching pretty much any position. I focus on the OL/DL and QB's. I was a former OC at the old school I coached at but wasnt teaching there so I came to KIPP to teach and coach together.
Offensively: Spread, Gap Schemes, Lots of window dressing to do the simplest things. Defensively: Mostly 3-4, but love teaching/running a 4-2-5 or 4-4 with a robber over top.

Hey fellas, This site was recommended to me a while back and I finally got around to making a profile. What a gem of a resource this place is. Currently I am out of coaching though I am eagerly looking to get back in. I played OL in both HS (flexbone) and college (no-huddle spread option) and coached for 2 years as a JV OL coach at my alma mater in NY right after graduating (so for all intensive purposes I'm still very much wet behind the ears.) Right now I live in Western MD and am getting certified as a teacher. I look forward to reading through more threads/forums and learning from everyone here.

Now it's propably getting excotic for you guys...
I'm 34 years old, born in Finland, but moved to Germany 7 years ago.
I used to play ice-hockey in Finland at a very high level (15 years till I was 19) until I blew out my knee and was too lazy to rehab. After that I played 2 and 1/2 seasons of football for the local team as Mike and Safety. But then I started with my studies and all that was gone. I watched football almost every day, though.
Last year in August some guys in my current hometown in Germany started a football team via social networks and I joined them. Unfortunately it looks like my knee won't co-operate anymore so I offered to coach them and am now the defensive coordinator.
Our first ever season started 2 weeks ago in the second lowest level in Germany and we're now 2 games in.
Most of the guys on the team come from a soccer background so it's been challenging to get them to play football. It's getting better each week, though.
Looking forward to talking some football X's and O's with you all.

If you haven't done so yet, if you scroll down the main menu you'll see a section for European coaches. BTW, years ago- about 34, in fact- the HS where I coached had a kicker who was an exchange student from Finland.

Hello All, I have coached for 19 years, 17 of them in CO. I am a Texan by birth and got home as quickly as I could, which turns out to be about 20 years too late! I am now an OC at Dallas 5A but not quite the Friday night Lights experience I moved here for! I am hopeful, that once I get enough "Texas" on my resume I can garner some serious looks! LOL
I prefer the Spread Gun as I want the Defense to defend the entire field and all 11 players. I also work from the mindset that I attack match ups, angles, and numbers. Of course I am trying to get the ball to athletes in space to make plays.

Hey everyone, I’ve been a member of this board for some time now and have never introduced myself. I am 24 years old and I am currently the offensive/defensive line coach for a junior high. I started coaching right after graduating high school as I was able to volunteer as a coach for four years in college and my first year out of college that I was looking for a coaching/teaching position. I got lucky and landed a job, after five years of volunteer coaching, at one of the feeder junior highs to the high school I volunteered at. My first year volunteering I mostly assisted the defensive line coach and kind of learned the tools of the trade. The next year I was given the great opportunity to coach my own position (TE/Fullbacks) for the next four years and from that was able to land the job I currently have. I hope to one day be back at the high school level only this time as a full time coach/teacher.

Good evening fellow coaches! I am a fairly recent graduate (2011) graduate and was graciously asked by my former HC to help coach. Now this is just a volunteer position, no pay or bonus or anything like that, ( plus I'm not employed within our school district) I am employed as a supervisor at a local mattress plant on 3rd shift so I'll be able to actively attend practice /games. Little background, was strictly punter all 4 years down started all 4, and that's the area I've been asked to watch over. Punting and kicking game (don't know enough about kicking to Instruct but I've got another coach to help with that..we are a AAA HS ( approx 1800 students) in southern middle TN. found this site within the past days and haven't been able to stay off. Look forward to Learning and participating In good threads! Thanks to all in advance

Good afternoon everyone,
I’m looking to get into coaching at the HS level after I finish up my time in the military. I plan on being a volunteer assistant while I get my teaching credentials, then becoming a full time teacher/coach, preferably in Southeastern North Carolina. I look forward to discussing football with you all.

Hey all! I Moved around a lot as a kid, grew up an "Ohio boy", but didn't play my first ball until grades 7-9 in Pittsburgh. Then I moved up to Ontario and continued playing high school and CJFL ball after. It's a lot of fun learning both the Canadian and American games, and trying to figure out what I can and cannot translate over from each game- schematically and otherwise. OL/DL/LB specialty but I love scheme and want to continue to learn as much as I can.
