Hey guys,
Any advice on how to handle this situation? We got brand-new jerseys this year...top-of-the-line tight fitting tackle twill etc. The issue we have is that the sleeves are short and the arm flaps on the shoulder pads end up sticking out on a lot of them.
Any thoughts on how to keep this from happening? What have you guys done in the past?

Carpet tape to hold the pads and jersey together? Do they have that weird lineman cut on the jersey where there is almost no sleeve?

Carpet tape to hold the pads and jersey together? Do they have that weird lineman cut on the jersey where there is almost no sleeve? We just got new Riddell jerseys this year. They look awesome. We had the same problem as lochness. Called my sales rep and he came by with a roll of carpet tape. Put on each part of the flaps shoulder pad and press the jerseys down. It held up pretty well and looked great. Give it a try.

Jerseys are now being made with the "cap" sleeve for smaller shoulder pads. Pay attention to the types of pads you are buying. They don't need to be enormous anymore.
Also, pay attention to the vendor. I coached for a team that had Riddell uniforms with cap sleeves, and we had this same problem, because while they look fine to the naked eye, the shape of the sleeve was not done properly. It should be slightly rolled to the front and the sleeve opening should be more like a "C"...not a banana.
Nike does a really good job at this, but (disclaimer) I'm a Nike dealer, so I'm biased. They just tend to fit and "wrap" down around the pad perfectly, compared to the Riddell I have experience with.
