Coaches:
I plan to get our practice field striped. Basic stripes with hash mark. Probably no number mark.
My question is: What stripes / marks do you like to add to YOUR practice field that are useful in practice drills??
eg. painted ladder. 45 degree lines, etc...
Any help or suggestions or photos would be greatly appreciated!!
THANKS!!

Put in the 9 yard number marks and the three yard extra point line.

We mark the numbers with a hash every 10 yards. It helps for special teams land marks, zone drops and offensive formations.
In the past we painted a red line (4 yards? from the boundary). I forget how far it was from the out of bounds line but it was so the WR's never aligned or ran vertical routes inside that line to allow them room to work.
Also in the past, we painted zones on the field as a learning tool. Painted boxes for the Hook, curl and flat so kids understood exactly how big each zone was.
Outside of that, nothing crazy goes on our practice field. I normally paint some random lines for the OL and DL (which is not on the playing surface of our practice field). It just helps in indies to just say on the line and they can organize quickly.

The two most recent schools I've coached at don't paint their practice fields at all. At my current school, we go to the game field to work on anything that requires precise hashes, yard markers, numbers, etc.
At my first school, we just painted off the 10 yard lines and put a small vertical line on each one to represent the hash. It was maybe 60 yards, total.
