It has saved me a butt load of time. So many forms that guys make that are better than mine and so organized. Plus, it is nice just to be able to share info with people who understand.

This site has been humbling. I thought I knew a lot of football until I started reading what everyone else knows and can implement. The site is also intimidating to a coach whose vocabulary, typing ability and coaching are limited to his cro magnum brain. I thank everyone for allowing me to continue to learn and I now realize the more I learn about this game the less I truly know. As one old coach said to me after beating his team "I have forgotten more football than you know" and I now believe him. The one fact I worry about reading these posts is that my wife likes me on this site . Thanks. Burn

I visit and read something new from this site everyday! Sometimes multiple times a day!
Its the best football site out there... if theres another site that rivals it... I haven't seen it yet!

I'm glad I stumbled on this site. If I'd found it sooner, not sure others would have suffered my off the wall decisions. I've always been a "go against the grain" guy because I didn't want to be pigeon holed as to "the percentages' Sometime successful, sometime not. Many of the coaches on the board have some off the wall ideas, that help to make me see my choices were ahead of the curve. They've helped to validate some of those ideas and things I've tried. The more I read the board, the more I know I chose the correct vocation as a teacher, and the avocation of a Coach. Thanks to all those who contribute, helped set it up, and who will perpetuate it.

Definitely one of the best resources for any football coach. Thank you Huey and Tag for starting and keeping this board going.

I think it sort of helped me understand the views (both positive and negative) of many toward youth/middle school football coaches. I think my spelling has improved (thanks brophy)
I think one thing that was good for me is just "expanding" my horizons, reading a lot more about other things beyond the dw and sw and wing-t really. I have enjoyed my study on the spread philosophies...I think I have gotten more "thick skinned" from the debates.
The board tends to be less specialized (er cultish) and its entertaining to say the least...
Most of all, I think it motivated me more than ever to want to coach at the high school level. . Like any forum, there are folks I agree with more than others but know this, all contributors are appreciated and generally respected. I love football and spend way too much time on this forum. I really like the job board and the interview topics that come up.
While I might not always agree with the moderators I think they have a great site here. I am not too proud to say "thanks"

My wife was looking over my shoulder last night and noticed that I had over 700 posts. She wanted to know why I spend so much time on the "d--n" board. My response to her was this was the cheapest education that I have received since high school.
But in the end I think she likes it cause it gives me my football fix in the off season. Which is always better then asking her how to attack the weak-side of an under front.

This site is the BEST THING GOING, If it ever goes off-line, they might as well shut to the Internet...Like someone said earlier, this is a FOOTBALL site, not a bunch of "he said" "she said" , back biting and finger pointing, like some other boards, just good information to help your team be the best they can be. That's why I love it...

It is a great sight, but has probably lowered my productivity in the classroom by 20%.This board is a daily clinic... minus beer and pizza (gotta be some way we can amend that...) Maybe a Coach Huey conference!

Maybe a Coach Huey conference! We are discussing this. Hoping to make it a reality in summer of 08. We'll see. Would be a big undertaking but we will continue to look into this.

This Board is Pandora's Box...
Entirely too much information for someone as flighty and impressionable as myself...
I have to treat it like bad sex...
Can't get enough!

It gave us an inside look at what our middle school coach was doing on a daily basis. Words for wisdom, your middle school does not need 80 players..especially when you have 3 coaches. If your coaching to put something on your resume, then its time to leave.

If we are all coaching "for the kids" and to promote the great game of football, I would think someone that because of his hard work, charisma, whatever is able to atttract 80 kids to play the game should be someone we would all applaud and be proud of. Hats off to all coaches that by whatever method are able to get kids to come out and play this great game, much better deal than the passive guy thats sits in his office and and hopes kids come out. I love passionate guys like that, too many great athletes roam the halls and never play the game because not all coaches like MR 80 Middle School players are taking the time to recruit or have the persona to pull it off. I would think most High School coaches would DIE to have someone that enthusiastic promoting the game to the young kids. As to the board, interesting viewpoints and gives me a better understanding of how other coaches view the game and each other.

I would think most High School coaches would DIE to have someone that enthusiastic promoting the game to the young kids. As to the board, interesting viewpoints and gives me a better understanding of how other coaches view the game and each other. Exactly, and as George Curry put it "you win with numbers". The big thing is that at the younger age groups (7th, 8th grade) many of the kids are undecided, sitting on the fence...they will base alot of their future decisions on the success and experiences they receive. No one can predict which kids will stick with it and buy into the whole program, off season commitment etc. Get more kids out, regardless of prior experience and teach them all, love them all and plant the seed! Big numbers allow a coach more room and flexibility for having great discipline and high expectations. The kids know that they are expendable because theres always someone else ready to take their spot. Active recruiting makes kids feel wanted and thats important at this stage in their social development. Now, some schools might not want to pay for another school bus, more equipment or even more games...but its about the kids, many of them will stick with it and become the stars under the lignts on friday nights. Its about the kids.

I have learned a lot since becoming a member to this site. I also always tell other football coaches about this site when I get a chance to. We need to have some hats and shirts made, kinda like they do with Full Tilt Poker and those other sites so we can show our loyalty to Huey, Tog and the boys!!

Its like a routine, everytime that I go on the net to check my email, I automatically then go to "x's and o's". Usually, I find myself on for at least an hour each time and although I don't post much I sure do appreciate the info. By the way, my wife likes this site, as it gets me out of her hair.

this is the best football site on the internet - if you are a true coach of the game and wish to constantly learn more and sharpen your skills, then this board is for you - nobody knows it all - many of us know a ton of football and have the experience to back it up - but there is always a way to improve - whether it is a certain drill or technique you pick up or a way to become more organized, this site has it all - Luke

As one who remembers Toby's I can say that this site is better than Toby's and that's saying A LOT. I've been doing this for 27 years and I know a pretty good amount of football but here I read a lot more than I write.

This site is definitely the best football site on the web and the members are absolutely phenomenal. From my experience, the members bend over backwards to help to each other. 99.9% of the replies are constructive. Very, very few replies are argumentative or smart ass answers.
All replies amaze me with how much info coaches are willing to share with each other. Yeah, we're all competing with each other on the field, but coaches don't seem to be selfishly hoarding away their own little secret plays.
I also coach Lacrosse and there is absolutely nothing like X's and O's available for lacrosse. There, it seems like too many coaches are "ME" oriented to be willing to share info.
Coach Huey, Tog, the rest of you directors (if that's the correct word), and all you member coaches- THANKS!!!!!

I was originally pointed here by my DC and it's been almost a daily visit since then. As we're British coaches based in the UK we have limited access to both material and top class coaching.
This site gives us pretty much everything we're looking for and is probably the friendliest forum going.
Keep it up fellas!
