Hello, This is my first year back after a four year break. I stepped down to be an assistant coach this season and I'm enjoying every bit of it. The Head Coach and I get a long great we both have the same views. Right now our team is sitting 5-0 with three more weeks left in the regular season. So I write this post with two questions. Our kids age range from 10-12. This is by far the best group of kids our programs has seen in its short nine years. Thank you for your advice. 1) How can we keep our kids heads grounded and avoid the big heads? (since we don't have a tough opponent left)(and our first opponent in the playoffs we beat and were moving kids around in the 1st) 2) The head coach and I were thinking about having a little fun with a prank, like to break the stress and etc among the team, any ideas? Keep the kids grounded by reminding them that they haven't accomplished anything yet. Also continue to challenge them both physically and mentally.
I always have a fun day at some point in the season (after a heart breaking loss, during a bad stretch of the season, etc). Things I have done are bowling, movie, dinner. Kids have enjoyed all of them.
