Just curious, how many kids do you guys have on your teams. We are a school of about 1800-1900. We have 57 on varsity and 50 on JV.

We are a school of around 650. We had 31 or 32 freshmen and then 50 sophomores through seniors.

We are a school of 2400 but only have 22 - 28. We don't cut but it's just the culture of the school and community.

We were down in numbers this season. We have an enrollment of 1500 and we had 20 sophomores, 30 freshman and then probably 35-40 Juniors and Seniors. This past week for the playoffs we had a roster of 50 that included all grade levels.

I always thought that if you could get 18-20% of all boys 9-12 on a team that would be a great goal..other thoughts?

I would love that Coach Gordon, but in our school system, we are only given a V and JV team. 180-200 kids between those two teams would be a lot. Though, if we consistently got those numbers we could probably have a frosh and two jv teams.

You must have a huge school..we had 1500 kids about 750 boys and had 135 kids 9-12 when I was hc..thinking about it..if you had a school of 2000 or more 18-20% would be ALOT of kids

Our school is just a hair under 2000, about 1950. We are around 900 boys, so 20% would be about 180, so we would have to cut if that many kids came out.

Our enrollment is about 1800. We have maybe 70 varsity and JV (no freshman team). It's our first year at the school. We know that we need to hit the halls hard this offseason.

We have about 1200 for 9-12. We had 37 on varsity and it was the biggest I've had for 31 years. @ 30 on JV and @ 25 on freshmen.

Coach Woodall, what is your Jv team composed of, strictly sophomores and juniors, and can they play in both jv and varsity games?

Coach Woodall, what is your Jv team composed of, strictly sophomores and juniors, and can they play in both jv and varsity games? 8 quarter means a kid can play those 8 quarters in 1 week. So for us our back ups on varsity plus other kids in the 10/11th grade that are not varsity players play on Thursday night. So my 2s can play/start for the JV game and still be available to play Friday night. Plus any freshman from their game can dress on Friday too if they are chosen to dress that night.

With an enrollment of 1100, we had 23 freshmen and finished the season with 37 varsity (soph-seniors) after a half dozen or so quit during the season. We only had 11 seniors. Of those on varsity, only about 30 were counted on to play regularly. Three of the quitters had been starters or key backups.

We are a school of 285 - 300. We typically have 36-40 kids in the program. That would be about 20% of the boy population. My ultimate goal is to get about 10 -12 kids per grade out - but if a class is small in size, which happens this maybe an unrealistic goal.

Shocked at some of the low numbers. We are a small private school, 25 kids max, per class, 1st thru 12th. We dressed 33 8th thru 12th grade before the injuries and grades depleted us to 25.
My alma mater is a mid sized 6A school (largest division...enrollment of 750 smallest 2100 largest in 6A) at 1250 9-12. They dress around a 100 Varsity. Each grade from 6th thru 10th has it's own team of around 30-40.
Pretty common to see 75+ player Varsity rosters in 4A and above.

2750 student population
varsity 66 plus any seniors not on the 3 deep.
JV 1 Top Juniors and Best Sophs around 30 players
JV 2 JR only who are not good enough for varsity or jv 1 It gives them an opportunity to develop 20 players
Soph Team 30 to 40 players
Freshman 1 and 2 teams are divided of equal talent. 60 to 80

varsity - 45 jv - 37 freshmen - 38
that's around 45% of the boys in our school. factor in those that don't play football but play other sports and almost 55% of the boys in our school participate in sports. In fact, 89% of our entire student population is involved in some extra-curricular activity (boys athletics, girls athletics, band, ag, ffa, fccla, academic competitions, robotics team, etc.)

Enrollment 145. We had 22 on the roster. 1 never played, got hurt in the summer, 1 played 3 games and got hurt- our for the year. Another got hurt week 6. We finished the year with 19 in uniform - 9-12. Played a couple games with only 17 players due to injury. We won our last three games though and only replace two kids for next year. Larger class coming in, so things look up.

9-12 enrollment is 1000. Varsity is 35, Soph 25, 9th 38, 7-8 130 I think our numbers stink. I've always thought if we could get 25 per grade, especially at the varsity level we'd be alright. I coach in a hockey town and we have way too many good athletes "saving" themselves for hockey. But I'm going to hit the halls heavy this winter and spring...see what I can drum up.
