In the thread about schematic evolution, an interesting point about the evolution of coaching came up. I was just curious what coaches here thought about the rules that prevented coaching from the sideline for part of the games history, and if you would prefer going back to those rules.

Little disappointed...53 views only 3 votes. HAHA. I was just curious how other guys felt, HOWEVER, I do think the answer does revel what the coaches truly enjoy about the sport. I am fairly certain anyone who ever referred to games as "chess matches" probably would not enjoy a sideline coaching ban.
I actually think it would be great. It would require a much more thorough TEACHING of the game, and the thought processes/higher order thinking would help add to its extra curricular nature.
