This comes out of Europe. The EFAF Cup isa top level competition for European clubs just below the Eurobowl and features many former Div 1 players. They are well into the matches and this week Spanish team Valencia hosted the AUstro-Swiss Hohenms Blue Devils.
I personally thought the Blue Devils were favourites. But when they turned up the pitch was an absolute state. Not only was it hard and cracked in some areas and flooded in others there was a risen concrete manhole just 4 yards from the pitch.
they refused to play on it. The refs turned them down and made them play. What happened was a farce. They took the field and refused to tackle on D, and took knees on O. they lost 104-0

I understand the not playing; I wouldn't let my kids play on a field that I thought was unsafe....but why even take the field and take a knee? I guess unless there was some sort of forfeiture penalty I wouldn't even take the field.
Everything in life is either a tool to serve the Lord and do his work, or an idol to distract us from Him.
"There are a number of good ways of moving the football, but we enjoy the option attack."
"We believe you can utilize any defensive front and secondary and have success with them, as long as you undersatand all their strong and weak points, and teach sound fundamental techniques."

Yes there is. If you forfeit they levey massive penalties including bans from further competition. The best place to make a protest and not jeperdise your participation next year is to do what they did.
Both teams were out already and the match was a rubber.

We played on a similarly muddy field one time, it wasn't bad.
Also, we have played on a field that, in the corner of the endzone, slightly overlapped the track because the track wasn't the usual length (it took 5 laps for a mile, as opposed to the usual 4). They had green carpet that resembled turf laid over it, nothing else. They played high school, middle school, and recreation games on it for 50 years or so (until they recently got a FieldTurf installation and a reworking of the track).
