Del Oro - smash mouth, grind it out, I back zone stuff vs. Talented and big Helix from San Diego (Reggie Bush and Alex Smith played on the same team at Helix). That is the D2 game. Del Oro is in the league we're in. Hate them...but love them tomorrow. Go NORCAL!!!

I have lived my entire life in the same city as De La Salle I hate DLS every day of the year except when they play anyone not from Northern California, so I will be rooting for them tomorrow, pretty much guarantee they win by 21+ Also cool to see Campolindo make it for D-3, i used to play/coach against them at my former school... I'm undefeated coaching against them

What is the population of a D-3 school in northern CA? for NCS D3 is 900-1449... but norcal and socal go by different rules when they play in state games... socal schools always have more students at the lower division levels... that is part of the reason why they are "winning" the head to head vs norcal since the state games started about 4 years ago or so. for example campolindo HS has 1335 students, id be willing to bet that the team they play from socal has closer to 2,000 I remember a couple years ago a norcal team with about 1200 played a socal team of about 2000

The south is going to regain the swagger this year. Up 1-0 with a big win by Sierra Canyon. Hopefully Santa Margarita can follow it up tonight.

Bellarmine just ran belly option from the DW for a TD. As a defensive guy, all I can say about that is UGH. Option + DW? F*** everything about that...

Coach Bud < I de lasalle plays Westlake. they are 2 spots behind Dela in national poll. Very good team. Spread wide open attack. I was at Oaks Christian game last week. West lake won 49-42. I doubt they will lose by 21 if they lose at all.

That TD was the power play but QB kept - its nasty haha
Mariner - saw that belly option from you old school this year - qb ran wild on us running that... We never had an answer for it...

To be fair, pretty much no one had an answer for Riggs this year. He's a thorough bred, his older brother was a hell of an rb/ss for us. There's one more boy from that family coming up (love those mormons!), hopefully I get to back there in time to coach him.
If you watch SM's defense, its very, very similar to the D being run @ my alma mater. Blank got the scheme from Coach Welch.

I'll be back there someday, but not until certain things change there.
Currently unincorporated, figuring out my next step.
Bellarmine showing some serious moxie to start the 3rd!

SoCal goes up 2-0. Sad part is the best team in SoCal was left out. Definitely need a state playoff. BCS style sucks.

Campolindo enrollment at 1335, Washington Union at 1076. Westlake at 2300, De La Salle at 2084. Helix does have a big advantage over Del Oro at 2400 to 1600. Should be some good games tomorrow.

I agree that there is a need for a statewide playoff system. Next year with Regional games after the Section championships is a step, but doesn't completely solve the problem. I don't know if it will ever happen though. The sections make way too much money doing their own things.

I saw Del Oro play in the section championship game against Oakdale and they were impressive from the fact that they were so methodical on offense. They have two 1,000 yard rushers in an offense that you wouldn't expect to see that in. I don't know much about Helix, but I would guess they have some impressive athletes. I read an article about their head coach and he left a job as the Director of Football Ops under Urban Meyer to come back and take the head job at Helix. Must be a good program.
