So this has been on my mind recently and I wanted to ask folks how they go about setting up visits with college coaches. I've found it easy to make contact with coaches at the D-III level around here, but frankly, in CA most schools are the D-I big boys.
I'd really like to hear how you fellas go about setting up visits, who do you contact first and how do you go about finding them? Is it an extension of making contact via the recruiting process or what?
Thanks for your time!

it will start with the coach responsible for your area.
However, just call the athletic department and let them know what you want. They will likely put you in contact with the person you need. Plan to bring your list of prospects for them and DVD (or HUDL url to share). Sit in on the meetings and stick your nose in the position drills (I know a lot of coaches that visit and just watch from a ways away - I've never visited a place where they had a problem with me asking questions or getting too close). The smaller the school, the more you can learn (IMO)

call the school right after the bowl season. they will have a schedule already in place. it will include the times that the coaches are "available" for in-office meetings. schedule one. or, there are many schools that are now going with 'unofficial' clinics prior to spring ball, which are WAY better than their official clinics -which are often canned presentations. these 'unofficial' clinics are essentially a week where all coaches are available for open-forum discussions on their program. there is a tentative schedule as to who has the video room, the "floor" so to speak, and it is pretty much a place where the conversation goes wherever the room wants it to.
