I think its great. The NFL is going quickly down the path of ruin that basketball did. You can have great teams and stars. Truth be told if you want superstars they have to the team. You cant ignore the teams and expect you league to succede. Now the question will be if the organization will get behind him. And yes Vernon Davis is a waste of space total bust.

100 bucks mike singletary is not the head coach of the niner's next year.
The NFL is a players league. I mean they have rules as to how much contact in practice in their bargaining agreement.
while everyone thinks this is cool I do not think so. you do not throw your team under the bus. you do not air your dirty laundry to reports. you say no comment and move on. now the media who is no longer into just reporting things causes problems.
I was one thing when the media would report the news however all forms of media now are entertainment. ESPN being the worst for reporting rumors and nonfacts.
Bud Grant, the great Minnesota Vikings coach said you never chastise a player in public. If you have a problem with him you talk to him in private.

Everyone plays against college team mates, has the same frat, same agents, what's to hate about being chum with the opponent and not being team first?
Learn to love it, our culture is shaping it that way.Nature of the business.

But for a moment...I thought things just might change.

Did anyone else hear that Singletary mooned his players at halftime of this game and addressed them for 3-4 minutes with his pants around his ankles?
Heard it on the radio today...

I don't follow the 49ers and haven't since the early to mid 90s
but for everyone ripping on Vernon Davis and stating that he is a cancer, during an interview he stated he completely understood why Mike Singletary did what he did and he owned up to his mistake.
Cancers don't do that. They make excuses and justifications for their actions Vernon Davis didn't do that. He agreed with what his coach did and will hoepfuly learn from it. Thats a kid learning to be a man from a man whose been there.
IMHO, Mike Singletary is exactly the kind of coach VD needs along with the rest of the NFL.
He may not be the 49ers HC next year, BUT he will be a HC for someone!

I am a very big 49ers fan and I loved everything Singletary did. I believe Davis has been a big bust and not a team player since day 1 and Singletary could finally make an example out of him. If what he said doesnt make you want to run through a wall for that team then nothing will. Hopefully things will shake up around there and they'll starting playing as a team instead of a bunch of individuals. Go Mike Singletary. Very nice First Impression Coach.
