I have been coaching now for 5 yrs. my first year we won the league 9-0 (8-10 yr old).moved up to coach 10-12 yr old been to the championship game 4 years in a row and can't seem to pull out a win. We play great during the regular season have had the best record in all four seasons. I felt very confident today and we played real well until the 4th quarter and then it all came apart the other team scored a TD and the kids just deflated how do i get these kids to not get down on them selfs if somthing doesn't go our way?

Yeah, league schedules can really kill you. It always helped us when we would scrimmage a team one weight class from up from us.

I don't make it a practice to post here because I don't coach at this level and never have so I do not know this game. This question is not specific to youth football, though. Getting over the hump is tough. Took us a long time. When you think you're over it it gets over you. I believe that a real key is the demeanor of the HC. If the HC isn't confident, the players won't be. If something bad happens in a close game and the HC deflates, the team will deflate. I think that's true at every level.
