Need help on both sides of line with the line themselves! Staff are all coaches of backs and the little guys. None of us know much about the basics of line work and assignments. Kids are 11-13 YOA. We always do well (somehow) but I think with better line fundamentals we will excel so much more. Looking for basic blocking assignments/ways to determine, defensive shoots, reads, w/blitzes, techniques, etc. ANYTHING will help. Thanks in advance!

If you are really serious about coaching good fundamentals onthe oline, you need to get a copy of George DeLeone's OL fundamentals of Drive blocking dvd...
Also, if you take the time to thoroughly read this site, you can pick up all the knowledge you need...just requires a time investment...

Some things you could run searches on would be GOD Blocking; DOmino blocking, Hands blocking, shoulder blocking.
GOD (Gap, On, Down) and DOmino blocking (Down, On) are two popular blocking schemes. GOD blocking involves a running back kicking out the End-Man-On the Line-Of-Scrimmage (EMOL). DOmino involves a pulling guard doing that job.
Hands blocking and Shoulder blocking are the two most popular blocking techniques.
I'd search this site first, but you can also find a lot of information through a Google search. You'll probably find more information on those four subjects than you'll have time to look at, but it'll give you a great start and should solve your OL problem.

Thanks in advance! 99% of the time the oline woes are because of confusion up front on WHO TO BLOCK rather than the technique of HOW TO BLOCK. In most cases the team that has a poor oline , has a poor set of blocking schemes and few if any blocking rules. what schemes do you intend to use and what rules do you intend to use to make those schemes go? if you need help with schemes and rules please email me: coachcalande@comcast.net

Im with Calande 100% on this after coaching youth football for 15 years. Who is just or more important than how, allows kids to play aggressively.

biggest thing is keep their rules simple, make it so each play they will nly do 1 of 2 tings depending on defensive alignment. MAKE SURE THEY ARE PLAYING TO THE WHISTLE. GET THERE FEET MOVING AND KEEP THEM MOVING
