I just got HUDL and have been playing around with old video for practice. For those that have a scout software system (HUDL or otherwise)...and you customize your programs, what do you look for from your opponents? To make it a bit more concise...what 5-6 things do you feel are vital to have broken down for both offensive and defensive reports on weekly opponents?

If I'm breaking down an opponents Offense (I was a DC last year) I want to know...
1) Top 5 Formations 2) Top 5 plays from each formation 3) Run/Pass tendency from each formation 4) Run/Pass tendency from down and distance 5) Who are their stud "playmakers" that I need to be focused on?
I also look at some other stuff that maybe I was waisting my time on but always helped us. Do they run strong or weak more? Do they have a tendency to run to the field or to the boundary? Do they have a tendency to play call towards or away from their bench? Do certain motions key certain plays are coming (almost everybody does this).
As far as what I look for from an opponents defense (I'm an OC this year) I have some ideas but I'm curious to hear what other's say.

We believe the most important area to focus on, as soon as you have an editing system, is exactly how to get the info you need from the data. The best approach may be to gather the basic data - ODK, yardline, hash, down, dist, gain, play type(run or pass), run gap/pass zone, formation and play. With this detail data you'll be able to create their standard offensive reports. From these reports you'll be able to determine which plays you'll need to focus on/stop first. In our experience most teams are either 1) play based - run the same plays from several formations or 2) formation based - run a group of plays from specific formations. BTW - these reports are all linked directly to the actual plays. Clicking on the name or values will bring you directly to the play clips. Summary Report Hit Chart Formation Report (1 example - you'll get a page for each formation) Field Zone Report Down/Distance Report
