I wanted to know if anyone out there has any good in-season fundraisers? Thanks for any and all ideas.

We do the the discount cards. On the second day of pre-season, each kid gets 20 cards to sell ($10 each). They have a week to sell these cards or get more and sell them. On the last day of the sale, we give the kids off in the P.M. and they go on a "selling blitz". At 6 PM, they report back to school where they return unsold cards, as well as all $$$. The discount card guy buys pizza and soda for the kids. The guy running the show then has a bucket in which he puts $$$ (2-100's, 4-50's, 5-20's and some 10's and 5's). Any kid who sold his 20 cards gets to draw from the bucket. Kids who sold 30+ cards get to draw from the bucket, receive a t-shirt, AND receive 10 more cards to do as they please. Our kids love the whole thing. I think we keep 60% of all $$$ taken in. IMHO it's the easiest fund raiser I've ever been involved with. By the way, our share of the $$$ is some big bucks.

I do a football poster that is 18x24 inches. It has both varsity and jv team picture plus a picture of just seniors. Both Schedules are on the posters as well. I sell $200 ad spaces that are 4x6 blocks. Last year we raised about $2300 after expenses. We printed 500 posters and gave them away at home games. We also do the discount cards as well.

cwlee66 - How did you do the printing? I've looked this as well but haven't gotten serious about the printing logistics.

Not sure if this qualifies as in-season but we are lucky enough to be two hours from Cleveland and 2 hours from Pittsburgh so our boosters buy 4 Steeler Browns tickets, rent a limo for 12 hours, and throw in 50.00 for "refreshments" and sell 1000 tickets at 10.00 each. I think the expenses are under 1000 for the whole thing, so they can make some decent money if it sells out.
Now granted we are close enough to do that and also have fan bases from both teams in our city so it's an ideal situation but I am sure could work out in other areas for a NFL or big college game if your lucky enough to close enough to pull it off.

we do the discount cards and the other easy one we do is sell T shirts and hoodies,,,we usualley do a Homecoming one or a big game with rival one,,,put some sort of slogan on it,,and they we do a playoff one, we take preorders, order a few extras, its really very little work, have a couple of kids in study hall print up some posters, make a couple of phone calls, and collect orders, you can get a nice T shirt for 5 dollars and sell it for 10-15, sell a hundred or two its a nice little profit. Also, simple one, but it takes a little luck, we bought a bunch of rain ponchos,,you know those 1-2 dollar ones you get, and the first night of rain we sold them for 5, sold out real quick as everyone was gettting soaked without one.

Sell team t-shirts, mini-helmets at games Raffle off tickets to local college game, signed football by local college team, local Big 10 school was willing to send us some stuff we could raffle off
Have a "Coaches Night" at a local establishment once a week, show the game film, talk about the next oppoenent, make copies of the game available for purchase and do a 50/50 raffle. The establishment usually likes it because they get buisness from the food and drink orders.

How do you guys set up your discount cards?

42falcon -for about $500 you can get 1000 cards printed up. Takes about 2-3 weeks to get local vendors to sign up. We've done the cards for years but did it ourselves last year (old school). Worked well, one of the only things that did work.
Difference is that the services charge the vendors for ad placement and they also get dinged for the discount. One of the teem moms did the leg work. Did 2 sets of cards with the same vendors - football &volleyball. Different designs but same vendors.

I think Pomer tournaments are awesome.
Never done one in season but it seems you could get a lot of sign ups during your games, great advertisement for them.
Set it up so you have the poker tournament on a saturday night (preferably the night after you have a weaker team scheduled so every can be happy about the win the night before)
There are some awesome companies who do everything for you to run the tournament, all you have to do is get bodies to come play

This season we will be holding our first Golf Tournament. Other teams in the area have held similar events that have done very well. We also did the discount cards and were very happy with the money raised.

Has anyone ever considered creating highlight films of the season and selling them in your community?

patrick24espor - We always have a team highlight video. Free copy to the players, coaches, staff, and "administration". We then print and label 10 copies of each game (takes a few hours) and the highlights and then sell them for $5 at the post-season dinner. Mom and dad and aunt Joanie like to see Johnny in the game more than just the highlights. We have done a pre-order where the parents could let us know what DVD's they wanted.
Works out pretty well.
We print using an Epson inkjet printer and the white printable DVD's. If you have a duplicator then it is easy to dupe the number of DVD's, and then sit and print them. Used to use the plastic carriers but went with the paper envelopes. Not a cost thing, more of a storage and convenience thing. Total cost per DVD is along the lines of $0.75 or (usually much) less.

I really like the pro game/limo raffle idea. Thank you Coach!
We do one that I got from a coach here. It is a Homecoming Jersey auction. On Homecoming Week, each kid has an Auction sheet and they solicit bids from teachers, friends, girls, family, etc. Bidding ends on Thursday, and the money must be exchanged for their white visitors jersey either Thursday afternoon or Friday. Then, only on Homecoming, we see tons of people on campus wearing game jerseys. Money made is 100% profit, and its great for school spirit. Two years ago we made $1900. Last year we made $1825, and we have 125 kids in our program.

Has anyone ever considered creating highlight films of the season and selling them in your community? We have had poor luck with this, people of lesser character, make multiple copies of the video.
