I think about half this forum. Not me, not yet, but I'm very tempted. Does their software take FullHD video? because, ironically, it's all I have and it causes more problems sometimes than it's worth with software issues. Looking for a solution.

We have been talking buying it if our fundraising goes as well as planned. We are a midsized program and money can be tight from year to year. How does Hudl compare to other programs that are available? Is the yearly fee as good a value as paying $3-5000 one of the other programs?

Price is about 800 for football. It is yearly. All I can say is ... watch their video. www.hudl.com

We have gone to using it this year for the first time. So far I like it. It is easy to use in film break down. You can make numerous reports for game planning.
I look forward to using it during the season, as position coaches watch and evaluate film with their players. I think this will be a much more effective way of watching film.

This will be our first year using HUDL. From the little that I've used it so far I'm hooked.
Very, very easy to use.
Can't wait to use it in season.

I have used DSV, digital scout, and Proscout.
Hudl destroys them. Destroys them! It is also cheaper.

Guys that have it, how long on average does it take youu to totally breakdown a game from start to finish, loading the film and coding it.
Thanks

We just did a test of film breakdown. Here is what we entered: ODK, D&D, Formation/Motion, Play, Result, Front, Coverage, Blitz. We did this for both teams and split up the duties as a staff, It took us under 1 hour to have a game done. This was our 1st time doing it this way and I would expect we get more efficient by the time the season hits. We will have an advanced scout who will be responsible for inputting data prior to us getting ready and preparing for our next opponent. Lots of the work will be done by the time we hit the saturday going into our next game. Last year was our 1st year using hudl and we found it to be a great product with awesome (AWESOME) support. I had used DSV and Coachcomm previously.

How long does it take to upload/download the gamefilm? We used Victory Swap last year, and waiting ~2 hours to upload a single game makes me want to throw things.

We used Victory Swap last year, and waiting ~2 hours to upload a single game makes me want to throw things. upload time is 'controlled' by 2 things ... encoding capability of your computer & internet speed of your connection. there really isn't a need to download film, at least we don't feel the need to do it. maybe after the season, but during breakdown/scouting of opponent there is no need to download anything. upload that night after the game. we odk and click publish ... then go to sleep. the next morning, the magical hudl elves have uploaded all angles of the video and we are ready to go...

So what you're saying is I'm still going to have to wait a good bit of time when "publishing" gamefilm?
Does Hudl have the ability to write to a DVD that can be viewed on a DVD player?

Yes you can burn DVD's through hudl and even pick the clips to burn, last year we burned specific copies of the opponent for each individual group. You really don't have to burn copies if all the kids ohave the internet, you can make playlists of specific plays or whole games, give them a password, and they can view it on their computer through the hudl website.

I used LRS for the past eleven years. I made the move to the HUDL. I believe it is the best out there for high school coaches.
It may cost a little, but I am no longer buying DVD for the kids weekly scouting report.

Does Hudl have the ability to write to a DVD that can be viewed on a DVD player? if you have a newer computer upload time (publish time) is pretty much real-time. the beauty, though, is that you don't have to wait for it to be uploaded to add data to it. you can a) add data through the video editor that is doing the publishing WHILE it is publishing - then 'republish' once that is done and the data will be added or b) go to the internet and add data online - once a clip is uploaded it can be viewed so you don't have to wait until the entire game is up to view it. if you hook up your projector to your computer/laptop you don't need to burn dvd's.

Does their software take FullHD video? because, ironically, it's all I have and it causes more problems sometimes than it's worth with software issues. Looking for a solution. They're expecting to fully support importing HD video very soon -- before the season starts. That'll be the 1st step towards supporting HD throughout the system. We're really looking forward to viewing our games in full HD from their servers. I'm not sure about everyone else, but after getting used to watching HD television, I find it tough to watch standard def TV now - Everything seems so blurry.

you can a) add data through the video editor that is doing the publishing WHILE it is publishing... This is what I was looking for. Sold.

Most of us know how great the Hudl software is now, but IMO the best is yet to come. Their development team is so incredible, the sky's the limit -- high def(how about their own OnDemand HD cable channel ?), 3D, playbooks and scout card diagramming, interactive training and testing, visual data entry, and probably many more useful features no one has thought of yet. Should be a fun ride...
